Reasons Why Stencils Get Placed on Hold and
How to Prevent It
There are two main categories for why orders are put on hold, either the order form is incomplete or there is missing information from the gerber data. What follows is a brief explanation of what we need to process your order quickly and efficiently and how to prevent your order from being placed on hold. Of course there will be times when you may not be able to anticipate all the questions that may come up with your order. In these cases Beam On Technology Customer Service will be happy to help you with any questions you may have.
ORDER FORMS
Frame Type and Size
DEK265 or Panasonic: For Front Justified Images
– Please indicate the “Operator Side” of
the PCB
Fuji4000 or 5000: Please provide PCB “Travel Direction”
Information for the “Operator Side” or “Travel Direction” can be supplied with either an image of the PCB specifying the information or list of components that are on the “Operator Side” or “Leading Edge” of the PCB. It is important that if a fixture is used a dimensional drawing must be provided to adjust the offset.
Fiducial Information
Top (Squeegee Side) Half Etch, Bottom (PCB Side) Half
Etch, Full Etch or None.
Type of Stencil
Top Paste, Bottom Paste, Bottom Epoxy, Step Down Stencil
or Multiple Images.
Modification of Apertures
Specify total width or length, “heel” or
“toe” modifications to apertures (if any).
Panelization info (e.g. 4-up) if at all, and attach any other
instructions that may be required. A drawing or diagram is
often useful and will insure you get what you want.
GERBER DATA
Minimum
Paste layers, fiducial information (if needed), board
outline, aperture file, and silkscreen information to verify
squeegee side.
Additional
Step and repeat drawings if panelized. Solder mask and
Fabrication data for tooling orders. Trace layers to help
check paste layer accuracy.
HOW TO HELP PREVENT “ON HOLDS”
Consistency
Be sure the gerber data matches the stencil you want to order.
If you have a specific modification and the “aspect ratio” is violated do you still want us to proceed?
Become aware of any recurring circumstances where your jobs are placed on hold. This way you can make it clearer on your orderform for subsequent orders.
Paste layer
If this layer has already been modified, please
indicated if you want us to use the layer “as is”
or first adjust data to 1:1 as indicated by the outer
circuitry gerbers.
Small board
If it does NOT require panelization, please indicate
“1-up” on the order form.
Option loads, TP’s, Vias, Gnds, and
Shields
Indicate whether they are to be opened or closed. If
they are always to be opened or closed please indicate such.
The same applies to ground areas in the middle of IC’s and QFP’s.
No Clean Design
Silkscreen data must be provided for component
identification and orientation. There are times when the
silkscreen is not comprehensive, for those times an assembly
drawing can be used.
Supplying us with a cellular phone or pager number is
the single most important tool for ensuring that your stencil
is not placed on hold.
